  The phone actually works - if you use console to delete the house you can grab the phone and ring the Neighbor. It doesn't play the actual animation for him answering, he just looks around.

  Interestingly, the shooter apples use the scrapped pre alpha apple icon in the inventory instead of the one we have today.

  I have a feeling that The Full Release and hide and seek was in its early development stages when Alpha 1-beta 3 was released which explains the golden Apple, the missing posters and the grave in the church. Like they already had the golden apple concept written down but they needed a concept for it…a story and lore. They already had some concept for the neighbor’s backstory…like his wife died….but they needed a reason for why the neighbor was boarding his basement, why he was locking someone in there…they needed a reason for why there were missing posters.
