  Amtrak is basically at this time, a Historic Preservation service. &nbsp;There is virtually no reliably overnight rail anywhere else any more, so we should ALL use it NOW while we have it. &nbsp;I know Brits that fly here to ride Amtrak. &nbsp;Get a clue, America. &nbsp;This is a National Treasure! &nbsp;DINING WITH TOTALLY STRANGERS FROM ELSEWHERE is the part of Amtrak that is PRICELESS and SACRED.

  My dad drove to come visit me for 2 weeks down in sw Mississippi where I moved to with my husband. When he headed home he took the Amtrak and got a sleeper room. He is 6’7 and said he really enjoyed it. He said he got room service so he really never had to leave his room if he didn’t want to. He said he was comfortable in there and even slept well. He said from now on, that’s how I’m gonna travel. He said I’m retired and for me the train is part of the vacation. &nbsp;<br><br>I was just put on hospice 3 weeks ago after battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for 2.5 years. I’m 44 and taking a scenic train ride was always on my bucket list. He has already booked his next trip to come down and spend time with me before things take a turn. He is so excited for the trip. He will FaceTime me while on it so I can be on it with him he says. Can’t wait to see my daddy one last time.

  This one has got to be one of my favourite videos on this platform. The topic, the people, the picturesque landscape – every bit was captured in such a nice way, without being over the top or anything. It was really wholesome to watch and felt so very authentic. I’m from Germany and I’ve never really had the urge to fly over the pond, but experiencing it travelling by train does seem like a wonderful adventure :)
