I was 7 years old in 1961. Even as a young Black child born in Louisiana .. .I loved most genres of music. Raised in a house with black & white tv...my siblings and I watched Ed Sullivan, Lawrence Welk, Red Skelton and later Soul Train.  ❤. I'm so glad I had an open mind...still today. God Bless Ms. Barbara Streisand. A Legendary and Uncompromised Songbird. ❤

That voice did change the world. I was eleven in 1961, and I heard her sing people on the radio two years later. Her voice remains the most memorable, most beautiful, most musical, most heartwrenching, most electric. It was pure and womanly, her timbre unmistakable and like no other. I own every album, CD, and played many of them over and over again. Like Arthur, Barbra Streisand changed my life, and continues to do so with her artistry, her passion for political causes, her support of women's health, but most of all for the enormous body of work she made throughout her long and successful career as a singer. The acting was important too, but her singing drew us to her and it continues to envelop millions and millions of listeners today. No other popular singer has held that kind of magic over his or her public for more than 60 productive years. Arthur's gift to Ms. Streisand is precious and how wonderful that she finally got her validation of his opinion after so many years.

I am 83. I still remember the first time I heard her. I was 22 .  She became my favorite singer and still is.  About a year later I saw her in person. It was in a small bar, concert room,  in L.A. she asked everyone to put out their cigarettes and they did. After that she took over my mind and heart. And was magnificent ❣️
