  I appreciate the fact that they literally watched through all 651 episodes and 13 movies, for this one video. His persistence is praiseworthy. What blew my mind was that Pikachu wasn&apos;t at least lvl 50 after so many episodes.

  It should be like level 1000 at this point but it keeps reverting back with every new region. I’ll never forget when a Pikachu with experience in multiple championships lost to a Snivy with zero battle experience. Even with its electric moves sapped, that’s ridiculous.

  Little detail: When Pikachu defeated all those spearow in the first episode, right at the moment when he unleashed his thunder bolt he got struck by a lightning which massively amplified the attack.

  I mean, the answer is obvious. The anime simply abandoned the concept of levels. Levels are mentioned once or twice in the anime(only episode I know of is the Slowbro one) and since haven&apos;t been in regards to new moves or evolution. Pokemon simply grow and have experience similar to the way a fighter in real life would. A seasoned veteran can lose to a newcomer with the right strategy, and so on. There&apos;s a lot of game mechanics that just aren&apos;t logically sound to acknowledge in anime.

  Wait… straight away I always assumed Pikachu was higher level than beginners, 1. Because he is a spare and not meant as a starter 2. He hates ash and wont speak to him/listen to him until they beat a few gyms/become friends and 3. He’s clearly better than other lower levels considering the sperow mass genocide

  I would actually estimate Charmeleons level in that episode at over level 70. Since it was disobedient to Ash it must have been too high a level to obey him. Ash had 6 badges at that point which means that Charmeleon must have been at least level 70
