About tracing: for me it helps with line confidence and to allow me to simplify forms and shilouettes, it helps me build a process. I try to focus on volume and angles more than shapes, I also do draw the outlines of shadows and whatnot to help me organize that knowledge by making it clearer. It has a lot of uses if you go into it. I don't do it often but when I do I do feel improvements.

U don't need to know how Mona Lisa was made instead what you have to understand from realism is the fundamentals like dividing into faces to better understand lightning learn the flow of natural human poses and etc.

Here's how I made myself enjoy practicing and learn fundamentals even in my 8 years of drawing.

If you find the idea of just drawing boxes, spheres, shapes, yada yada. Then you should try this, get an idea how does this fundamental work, then do the 1 - 2 - 3 method,

1. You try to replicate and understand how and why it's done.

2. Now you do 4-5 examples doing the same thing but without any further guidance and instructions

3. Then try to apply what you've learned into a sketch of whatever you like to do.

I love the fact that I discovered your channel because, I originally used to use the Loomis method but, I felt as though no one who was like professional uses it, well at least the artist I watch. That made me switch to the circle method. Seeing this really motivated me to try using it again because, I really did enjoy using the Loomis method. Tysm man, I really hope others can view your art in the same way.
