I can find an honest money changer in Kuta that pays more than 15% above the Airport Rate.<br><br>You cannot find a taxi from Seminyak to Ubud for Rp 150,000.<br><br>I have been to, Bali 23 times.

Yes taxis have become impossible in Bali and far from creating a more efficient market Grab have added to the corruption. I estimate the revenue from taxi scams at the airport is US$50m pa. That's a significant windfall for some officials. But it's the same across Indonesia and has now spread to Jogja train station. <br>I'm now in Jogja because it was impossible to book hotels and flights to Bali, thanks to dynamic pricing, which are even bigger scam. All in all it is killing Bali as a tourist destination.

It seems that whilst the numbers suggest increasing numbers of visitors to Bali, there do not seem to be masses of people around - where do they go? I read somewhere that most hotels / homestays are rarely fully booked, so just arriving and find somewhere might be just as easy.<br>(There is some really bad pronounciation in this video)
