I honestly wasn't expecting CHASING AMY to hit this hard.

I went in expecting a fun 90s romantic comedy and ended up getting one of the most frustrating, emotional, and thought-provoking relationship movies I've watched on the channel.

What do you think?

❤ Were you on Alyssa's side?
🤔 Did Holden ruin the relationship?
🎬 Where does Chasing Amy rank among Kevin Smith's movies?

Let's discuss 👇

🎬 Movie suggestions → https://forms.gle/PZ4sK83jQf7doyoY8
⭐ Want priority picks, voting power & full uncut reactions? → https://www.patreon.com/shawatches
👍 Don’t forget to like & subscribe if you enjoy first-time movie reactions!

This might be the first time I've watched a reaction to a movie that I liked as a youth, but kind of fell out of love with over time, that the reaction made me appreciate it again.

 "What's a Nubian?"

Though lower in my KSmith rankings (because it's mostly Smith airing his personal business for a paycheck 😅) Chasing Amy is still important in the ViewAskewniverse as the most serious of the films and for all the connections that come from it.

Joey Lauren Adams plays the same character from Mallrats - Alyssa Jones. Her sister Tricia was the one writing the book on male libido 😳 Just a reminder for future reference 😉

I love this movie! It really is such a time capsule of the 90's and the attitudes around bisexuality from multiple perspectives. As a bisexual man I've definitely been told I'm in a phase or in denial about being gay. A lot of the characters remind me of people and opinions I've run into in real life. This is absolutely my favorite Kevin Smith movie.
You definitely clocked the guy from clerks in the hockey scene, he actually played Rick Deris in clerks, the same guy Holden is asking Alyssa about.

Joey Lauren and Kevin Smith were dating when they filmed Mall rats and Chasing Amy

"He staged a fight and a shooting to sell his comic book?"

Hooper X is my favorite part of Chasing Amy. A sassy gay black man pretending to be a white-hating militant to sell comics is hilarious. He drops in just enough to leave you wanting another scene with him.

Kevin Smith movies are too pagan. I feel like I need to go to church after watching them.
