I can see why this guy became head of investor relations; he talks a good game and he’s very convincing. Fun fact though: power users do not always want to use frontier models. I may use frontier models to build, design, spec, and modify skills files (or other md files) while using a model like Sonnet to execute delivery. Similarly, 38K prompts are not homogenous. Deeper into the context window you go, or the more advanced your model / complicated your ask, the more tokens you consume. But good of him to share a statistic comparing prompts to almonds to confound almost everyone commenting.

SOC = system on a chip not silicon on a chip. It's an integrated device that unifies a number of basic digital electronic functions into a single, large monolithic panel of silicon rather than breaking up into multiple, discrete devices. Advantages are processing speed by not having to send signals back and forth between discrete devices as well as supply chain in not having to chase capacity across numerous discrete devices....principal disadvantage is the cost and manufacturing capacity for larger yield losses on these gargantuan devices vs smaller discrete devices.

The point about most people still using AI for basic prompts really puts the hype into perspective.

The water usage for almond production includes rain water, data centres don’t collect rain water or use agricultural irrigation water in their systems

It sounds like only power users need frontier models. The key to understanding demand is to estimate the number of power users. My experience with large corporations is they are mostly in finance, a smaller number in market research. I don’t remember any in sales. I can’t speak to any manufacturing or engineering that he describes at Cisco.

4:50 they're talking about NVIDIA and GPUs and the Cisco guy holds the conversation like it's meaningful and relevant to the networking chip dealing in fibre optic cable translation back to computer instructions. classic, a car guy and a biologist talking about Jaguars

A frontier model can be your main interface, that you give access to a local model, and tell it to use it to conserve tokens
