He has acted in many Punjabi and Urdu films and serials, including Beyond the Last Mountain and *Kahi Unkahi*. He is best known for his portrayal of Prince Salim in the drama *Nangay Paoon*. Early Life and Education Usman Peerzada was born in Lahore in 1951 into a Punjabi family involved in the performing arts. His father, Rafi Peer (1898–1974), was an actor and playwright who pioneered theatre in Pakistan. His legacy in theatre was continued by Usman's brother Saadaan Peerzada. His other brothers, Salmaan Peerzada and Imran Peerzada, are active in cinema and on television as actors and filmmakers. His sister Tasneem Peerzada is an Urdu journalist specializing in culture, while another brother, Faizaan Peerzada (1958–2012), was an artist and a puppeteer. Usman studied at St. Anthony's High School and later graduated with an MA in English in 1974 from Government College University (GCU). Acting Career Usman Peerzada started his acting career from his college in 1974, appearing in different plays and dramatic festivals. In 1976, he received an offer for the lead role in Pakistan's first English-language film, *Beyond the Last Mountain*. Over the years, he established himself as a prominent actor in Pakistani cinema and television, appearing in numerous Urdu and Punjabi films and television serials. Among his notable television performances was the role of Prince Salim in Nangay Paoon*. Director and Producer Usman Peerzada has also worked extensively as a director, producer and screenwriter. He directed, produced, wrote and acted in the Urdu-language movie Nazdeekiyan in 1986. He later directed, produced, wrote and acted in the Punjabi-language movie Gori Dyan Jhanjhran in 1989. Both films received critical acclaim. In order to finance *Nazdeekiyan*, Usman Peerzada sold off his cars. The film eventually became a hit at the box office. In television, he directed and wrote the PTV drama Sofia in 1992, which co-starred his wife Samina Peerzada and became popular. In 1997, he directed the movie Karz*, with the script written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. *Karz remains the last movie he has directed. In 2010, he directed and wrote the drama Rangeel Pur for PTV Home, with the cast including his niece Yamina Peerzada. In 2016, he announced that he would adapt his father Rafi Peer's play Namoos into a movie that he would direct. Television Career Usman Peerzada's television career spans several decades. His television series include Teesra Kinara in 1980, in which he played Raheel Obaid; Chabi Aur Chabiyan in 1981, in which he played Ibrahim; Nishan-e-Haider in 1982, in which he played Colonel Adam Khan; Darya in 1983, in which he played Shah Mureed; Nangay Paoon in 1983, in which he played Prince Salim; Picnic in 1983, in which he played Amir; and Wadi-e-Purkhar in 1983, in which he played Naseer Aldeen. He played Ahsan Ali Khan in Status in 1984, Zaheer in Saahil in 1985, Sarang in Jungle in 1986, Tariq Ahmed in Hisaar in 1989, Asad in Karrobi in 1991, and Umar in Sofia in 1992, which he also directed and wrote. He appeared as Ahmed Hasan in Dastak Aur Darwaza in 1995 and Shaheen in Qurban Tere Ishq Pe in 2004.
