  It <i>can</i> be abusive when used incorrectly, and it’s those people that give e-collars a bad name. A regular flat collar can be abusive too if you use it wrong.

  I would have to say, that the ones who are against e-collars are the same ones who are against discipline their own children. We know what happens to children who don&apos;t get discipline.

  I’ve got two power breeds and the e-collar corrects them from 100 yards away. Can’t do that with a leash..

  The shock collar is the single best dog training tool ever devised. &nbsp;It not only allows a dog greater freedom than any leash, it also provides IMMEDIATE feedback so the dog knows exactly what he did wrong. &nbsp;Like any other tool, you have to learn to use it properly.

  I have owned and trained my dogs all my life, but when I decided to use an e-collar in the training of my Border Collie I sought professional instruction. Afterwards, I wished I had learned to use them decades ago. It&apos;s basically the human equivalent to a tap on the shoulder.

  I have my American Pitbull XL 1 yo on an E, shock, collar. He&apos;s only on it outside when we are on walks off our property and when him and I are outside and I&apos;m working. We&apos;ve been working with him with the collar for maybe 4 months. The collar has three ways for me to communicate with him, a tone, it vibrates, &nbsp;and 1 - 99 levels of electrical stimulation &quot;shock.&quot; I have personally had my wife shock me with the level of stimulation that it&apos;s set on, 22. Although we started with 10, then 15, and finally 22. I have only had to &quot;shock&quot; him twice. Oh and it also has a light that stays on or flashes. If I don&apos;t know where he&apos;s at, or haven&apos;t seen him in a bit. I press the tone, and within moments he is at my side. At night, I can turn the light on and see where he is, we live in the country and it&apos;s very dark out here at night. If I flash the light I can hear him coming to me. That&apos;s it!! He&apos;s definitely not afraid of it. If he sees me with it he will come and sit down for me to put it on him. He has about 15 acres of property he can roam, without me slowing him down or restricting his movements with a leash or long line. If folks want to call that cruelty, please explain how?
