  Forcing kids to buy their own tools is also pretty absurd. This made sense decades ago, but today in a franchise dealership? When you need specialized tools constantly? <br><br>Y&apos;all need to change that too.

  This was a considerable problem in Alaska, as related to warranty repairs. The dealerships got together, all brands, and petitioned the lawmakers in AK to change the fair trade laws and force car manufacturers to pay “customer pay” labor times. Which for those that aren’t sure what that means, it forced them to use third party labor time guides for repairs, not the manufacturers made up labor times. Keep in mind that most manufacturers labor times are HALF of what any third party labor time guide states. If only this was done on a national level, more young people would see value in taking up the trade. Until then, this trade will continue to bleed out.

  You left out what a sh*t show the Ford Parts supply line is. My son was a Master and Certified Ford Tech. He had two consecutive paychecks with 20 hours because he had six cars, including two on his lifts, waiting for parts. When he went to the Service Manager to complain, the owner overheard and fired him on the spot. He was one of two Masters and the only Certified Tech. A week later the dealer&apos;s only other Master quit to join my son working at the local power plant for three times the money.
