  I wish SLICE would include the dates of production on the documentaries they post. This footage is over a decade old by now. I otherwise love how this channel puts out ethnographic stories like this, but want to caution people as to not take every statement and description from a documentary like this as fact. I have personally lived in this region and know some of these very people. The documentary's narration  has its limitations as well as outright flaws regarding Na society and family life.

  Abandoning the mountains and trading their serenity for overcrowded, overpriced, overhyped city life is not a solution. Take what you learn and bring it back home. With collaborative effort, people can have what they need even in the most remote of places. Most of us work our butts off just so we can leave all of that behind and find a quiet, beautiful place to never have to be in the rat race again. It’s all about perspective at the end of the day. I wish everyone in that village well!<br><br>Edit: spelling

  Lol, Matrilineal/Matrifocal are two very different things from Matriarchal. Getting terminology right is really important. Saying this culture is Matriarchal is not only incorrect, but also VERY misleading.

  They are not a matriarchy, they are matrilineal, they&apos;re not the same thing. These women still live in a patriarchy 😒

  In most schools, kids are encouraged to dream big and achieve their goals, which really means, getting education, moving to cities, high-paying jobs, etc. &nbsp;There&apos;s nothing wrong in raising up your economic status, but to view some cultures as beneath others is not commendable.

  Here I am from the mountains of &nbsp;Asia, watching this documentary &nbsp;in a studio flat in London. Wishing I could live this &quot;simple&quot; life and create a fire whenever I like. Simple things really..

  I think they should use education as a way to preserve their tradition and survive in a harsh environment. Who knows what improvements the girls will bring back home once they’re finished with school.

  What a terrible teacher, she should be encouraging kids to do what they want but not to tell them that the only way to achieve their dreams is to leave.
