Sir Robert Hunter (Peter O'Toole) has traveled to the continent with a high-powered rifle and a deadly purpose. He takes aim at Adolf Hitler, but hesitates and is immediately captured. The Gestapo brutally tortures him, though he claims it was merely a sporting exercise to see if the impossible shot could be made. Thrown off a cliff to disguise the evidence of his murder, he miraculously survives and makes his harrowing way back to England. However, the nightmare is not over, as the relentless Gestapo secretly follows him home, forcing him into a deadly game of cat and mouse. 🎥 BEHIND THE SCENES & CINEMA TRIVIA ⭐ O'Toole's Favorite Role: Peter O'Toole made sixty films, starred as Lawrence of Arabia, and was nominated for eight Academy Awards. Yet, in a 2007 interview with BBC Radio 4, when asked which of his films he considered his absolute best work, he named Rogue Male. 🎬 A Final Performance: Alastair Sim plays the uncle who cannot help him. This was the final film of Sim's incredible career, closing the book on one of the great character actors of British cinema. You can see his mastery of the craft in every single scene. ✍️ A Playwright on Screen: Harold Pinter, one of the most important playwrights of the twentieth century, steps in front of the camera to play Saul Abrahams, Robert's Jewish lawyer friend.
