As a doula I really recommend preparing your body for labour. There have been a several, high quality studies on eating dates to ripen the cervix. The evidence that show that eating 8 dates a day in late pregnancy can help. They’re also a fantastic as a labour snack, as they can boost energy levels.

My first postpartum experience was so traumatic that I’m doing everything I can this time around to be better prepared.

I felt like I did everything I could for a good labor... 6 dates a day, raspberry leaf tea, light daily exercise, etc. But I still got induced at 41+5, went through 35 hours of labor in the hospital, had a team of 5 nurses run in because the baby's heart rate went down (funny that was mentioned in video), and then ultimately had a C-section because I was panicking. Maybe I'll try out these other tips for baby #2... I don't want to go through that again, and I don't want a C-section!

Fyi about dates: Bahri dates are amazing. I feel like most people I talk to don’t know about them, but they are my absolute favorite. They taste like caramel and have a less offensive texture than medjhool dates. (I’m not great at spelling)

I’m enjoying eating dates with toasted bread and butter topped with dates and nuts and it’s so good!

My mom had to get C-sections for failure to dialate in labor. Idk what all the circumstances were or if such a thing could be genetic, but hoping for a successful VBAC this month and will be trying these things out 🙏
