  The expanded Rareware universe is all because Nintendo wanted a popular character to support a new racing game for the N64 and I think that’s funny

  My head cannon is that TipTup was peer pressured into racing, eventually beating wiz pig. After beating wiz pig, he went home and had a victory boink with his wife and that’s why he has so many kids.

  An important thing to remember about classic Rare is that Conker was basically their collective self insert, so most of their writing was probably done at the pub.

  Donkey Kong lore is like when you make up a story with your friend, but you slowly drift apart and make another friend. So you continue the story with another friend while, unbeknownst to you, your past friend continues their iteration of the story. Then, when you finally all meet, none of you can decide on what’s actually part of the story.

  The way Rare went from point A to B in game development fascinates me. A pirate adventure RPG somehow morphed into one of the best 3D platformers ever, an epic dinosaur adventure became a mascot kart racer, and a sequel to the best 3D paltformers ever ended up a weird vehicle building game no one really liked.
