Demjanuk didn't live too far from me - about 30 to 35 minutes and I didn't even know it until his last arrest!!!!

John Demjanuk split Northern Ohio. Myself and my family always felt he was The Butch of Treblinka. The picture said it all.

Demjanuk is not Ivan the terrible. The photo they show of “Ivan” is simply a picture of Demjanuk when he is younger - not the actual Ivan. Ivan the terrible had brown eyes, Demjanuk has blue/grey eyes. There is an actual picture of Ivan the terrible and it looks nothing like Demjanuk. The KGB forged the identity card of Ivan the terrible and attached the picture of the younger Demanjuk. Apparently, it was revenge against Demanjuk for escaping the Soviet controlled Ukraine. It certainly worked.<br>The real Ivan’s identity was subsequently released by the Soviets from their archives after Demanjuk had been thoroughly persecuted. His real name was Ivan Marchenko

It was proven in ensuing hearings that John Demjanjuk was not Ivan the Terrible. The actual Ivan the terrible was killed during the war in an uprising from prisoners in the camp. He ( Demjanjuk ) did however, serve as a guard in Treblinka and Sobibor, thus not exonerating him completely from the crimes that were bought against him.
