  I don&apos;t know if this is just folklore that went with the ship - but I wonder if there&apos;s an element of truth in it...<br><br>Apparently, if you name a ship after a British Queen, you need the Monarch&apos;s permission.<br><br>The story I heard was that they wanted to name her the Queen Victoria. The chairman went to the King and said, &quot;We want to name her after the greatest Queen that ever lived&quot;.<br><br>The reply came, &quot;Mary will be delighted!&quot;

  It&apos;s been nice to watch Mr. Bell&apos;s ascention in the Club of British History &apos;Presenters&apos;. Here, he takes another step forward by mastering story-telling, a skill that demands emotional depth, and control of performance. Great doc.

  Excellent and very historic life of this ship The Queen Mary a awesome &nbsp;peice of maritime engineering and the role she played in world war 2 as troop transport amazing would love to visit in person.thanks for sharing

  My wife and I spent our honeymoon on the Queen Mary back in 2007. We slept in a stateroom on B deck for three days and nights, then on the last day, we went to Hollywood and walked down the Walk of Fame. I got a $120 parking ticket, and my mother in law called to tell us that the entire bottom floor of our apartment building was flooded (long story, but I helped the maintenance guy install a hot water tank in our building and we told the landlord that the return line was corroded and needed to be replaced, only to be told that it&apos;s 30 years old and it&apos;ll be fine). He let us out of our lease early and we bought our first house in early 2008. We also got a nice settlement from his insurance company.
