  There is something so violently dystopian about plastic being in the mariana trench. Not even the deepest point of the ocean is safe from humanity&apos;s pollution

  My husband was in the Navy and his favorite memory was when they stopped at the Mariana trench. The whole ship minus just a few swam in the ocean above the trench for a few hours. The got to jump off the deck into the ocean. For my husband, who is insanely afraid of heights, he managed to convince himself to jump and he said he&apos;ll never forget that memory. He has early onset dementia and I hope he never does forget it.
