  In 2004 I was working for a French company and I had to go to Paris and I live in Dallas Texas.  Now I am a music aficionado and have a music degree and I pride myself on loving and knowing all genres of music.  The second day I was in Paris I heard some of my French female co workers talking about going to see this woman's concert who they sort of compared to Celine Dion.  I asked them who were they going to see?  They said, "Lara Fabian"   I had never heard of her, so they put a song of hers (je t'aime) on an iPod and let me listen to it.  After the first minute I listened to the rest of the song in wonderment.  I said, "I want to go too!"   They told me her concert was sold out.  I didn't care I HAD to go see her.  I went two hours before the concert started at the L'Olympia and started to ask anyone that was approaching if they had an extra ticket...20 minutes before the show started, a guy hears me asking people if anyone had an extra ticket and he comes up and says that he and his girlfriend had just broken up and I could have his tickets.  I offered to pay him for one ticket but he just placed the two tickets in my hands and said "Have a good time." and walked off.   These tickets were 11 rows back from the stage!  I sat there after she sang Je Suis Malade with tears in my eyes.   After the concert I sat in my seat for another 30 minutes, just STUNNED. Wondering what have I just heard and witnessed?  The staff told me I had to leave and I walked the streets for the next two hours thinking like you, "I have had this voice, and her presence locked inside of me and I didn't know it until she released it that night."  To this day when I hear her sing or watch her, to me it's something not of this world.    I have never been "star struck" however if I were ever to meet her, I would think it would be the closest to heaven.  She is my Helen = Perfection.

  There is no need to apologize for your emotions. I am a 77 year old man and cannot watch her without having moist eyes and deep feelings. Thank you for this and your reaction.

  Lara never just "sings" the song - she "inhabits" the song that she sings!

  You'll note that it takes Lara several seconds to come out of the song, she was so deeply in it.

  Alison, not Allie...I have to tell you, I am a 75 yr old man, married for 30 years, divorced almost 20 yrs now. Fortunately my ex and I have a good relationship (I'll go do her lawn later this AM). I have heard Lara perform Broken several times and every time, including this morning, tears flow. Her tone and delivery crawl into my heart every time.  The split was my fault.  Guilt is difficult to deal with but life has to go forward and healing is on-going. The heart heals but doesn't forget.

  Lara is the Queen. Everybody cries to this one the first time they hear it so don't feel bad. You really need to react to Adagio and Curuso.
