I've watched several of the Wealthtrack interviews with Joel Greenblatt. His books, "The Little Book that Beats the Market" and the more recent "The Little Book that Still Beats the Market," expound his "Magic Formula" investing. If anyone has factual data on how this has performed over the long-term, and especially since 2020, that would be very interesting.

The strategy relies heavily on likely highly distorted balance sheet numbers and has lagged sp500 for a decade. What's the lesson here? Buffet has said for decades- there's no simple formula for investing, you have to understand the business.

In Aug 2026 - This guest’s Gotham Index Plus Investor (GNNDX) has underperformed Vanguard’s VOO by 37.85 throughout GNNDX inception. Moreover GNNDX charges 47 times more than Vanguard’s VOO. <br><br>VOO - 183.64% w/ expense of 0.03%<br>Gotham Index Plus Investor (GNNDX) - 145.79% w/ expense of 1.41%<br><br>Not impressed with this guest and his stock picking capabilities.<br> <br>Shouldn’t you have to beat the S&P 500 to be considered a so called Star Investor?
