Love your work, thank you for your content, PTJ!
By way of having a conversation with a fellow Stay, I have to disagree on one thing though- you suggest being born in the same year makes them the same age. Yes, the age seniority system is critical in Korean culture but I'm fairly sure it doesn't stop at year of birth. In conversations I've seen Koreans ask each other what date they were born to precisely pinpoint who is older (even when they are the same age by Western standards), so I think Hyunjin being nearly 6 months older than Han is an important part of the tension. Hyunjin is characterised as being part of "hyung line"; Han is part of the "maknae line". This is entirely psychological, sure; but Hyunjin is still senior and Han had to theoretically show him respect, even though Han was a considerably more experienced trainee.
By way of comparison: unlike LK, who Han also recognised as good looking but saw as worthy of respect because (a) he was 2 years older and (b) was a professional dancer who had worked with the legendary BTS; Hyunjin came into trainee system as a "visual"... and that was all. Han fought to be a trainee and then came in with talent and worked hard as a trainee... Hyunjin was recruited based solely on his face card, AND he was older. Therein lies the reason (I think) Han was ready to see him as his nemesis. The only reason Han got away with being disrespectful to Hyunjin as much as he did (which arguably wouldn't have been the case in a wholly Korean group) was because Chris (being an egalitarian Aussie, and not a fan of hierarchy for its own sake) was much less inclined to observe age seniority within the group (hence "maknae on top", etc). In terms of other reasons for friction, it didn't help that Hyunjin was positioned as a dancer, part of Danceracha, working closely with LK; and he was the most biased from a very early stage, (so, lots of reasons for jealousy).
I think Han eventually learned to respect Hyunjin because he doesn't just pull his weight, he WORKS HARDER than anyone else (as recognised by the group). He's not just a pretty face, nor did he want to be known as such- he was serious about being an idol and being a fully contributing member. He also demonstrated some songwriting talent, (which is something Han well knows isn't easy), and some artistic talent. Obvs Hyunjin always respected Han as part of 3Racha, and as the Ace of the group. They are both sensitive in different ways: Hyunjin is emotional and intuitive, Han is thoughtful and deep... they always had the potential to have a meaningful relationship with time and maturity, and what they now have is beautiful to behold.
Thanks again for looking at their history and sharing so much detail around how they have come together over the years... ❤❤❤

I always hated when people think it's funny to mention 'predebut han was a menace' when in reality, it was much more than that.
Han was already an introvert, which probably made it harder for him to connect with new people. On top of that, he was homeschooled during the time when most people naturally build friendships, so it likely affected how comfortable he felt around others, especially people his age or older. He has also spoken about struggling with anxiety, which adds another layer to all of this. So what other members found easy is where he find it difficult, so it made both him and members to understand the situation since all of them were young and didn't know what was going on or how to approach to this kind of situation.
During the pre-debut era, he seemed to put on a “cool” front. It felt like he didn’t want to be seen as someone who needed help, and when others tried to guide him, he might have taken it the wrong way, like they were looking down on him. That kind of reaction usually comes from insecurity, not arrogance, and it makes sense considering the pressure he was under at that time.

But now, he feels different. He seems more open about wanting care and affection, and you can see that he really values the warmth he gets from the members. When he feels even a slight distance, it seems like he takes it to heart more deeply, which shows how much those relationships mean to him.
He’s sensitive, self-aware, and probably overthinks relationships sometimes. When someone like that feels even a small distance, it can feel much bigger internally. He’s someone who feels deeply, used to struggle with connection, and is still learning how to feel secure in relationships—and he’s doing that in a very intense environment.

being a kpop trainee seems like the most traumatizing experience so i don’t blame either of them for the way they acted when they were teenagers and were under so much stress

It wasn't just Hyunjin, Han was pushing himself away from everyone. Hurting everyone even throwing a wallet at Seungmin, he was scared he would be the one to mess up.

Now I understand Han's and Hyunjin's relationship better. I never understood why everyone said that they use to fight a lot. They looked so comfortable with each other last year in 2 Kids room. Tbh I love all of Stray Kids. They are my happiness together with my other faves.

The situation of conflict between group members is not new. Here the group consists of 8 people. Each of them has their own personality, character, and dreams, but the group's interest is the most important. The gentlemen showed maturity and responsibility for the fate of the group. This shows how much humility is needed to give up part of oneself. Respect for both gentlemen.
