I think I’ve watched you for maybe 2-3 years and Josh used to be just a voice we would sometimes hear behind the camera. It so nice to see his confidence has grown and he is on camera more. He has such a logical mind and a great way of explaining things

“Honey, this is going to be a lot of honey”. I just love how respectful you and Josh are towards each other it’s evident in your interactions. I love this vlog ❤

Becky and Josh, I have a flow hive as well. You do need a second brood box on there so they can fill that with honey and pollen for winter. The flow super does not get left on over winter. You can eat the honey from the tubes or uncapped, just refrigerate so it doesn’t ferment, or check your honey:water ratio with a refractometer. Uncapped honey is fine to jar up if the water content is low enough. If water content is too high, you can let it sit with a fan on it to dry, or use a dehumidifier, etc. The honey does not spoil, once the moisture level is right. Scientists recovered honey from King Tut’s tomb that was still edible. Oh there’s so much I could say, but it would take up so much space. Happy harvesting!! 🍯

There was an episode in NC where a beekeeper was getting colored honey. The cells were speckled and multicolored…some green, some red, sone purple etc. After considerable investigation it was discovered there was a nearby park with a mobile sno-cone vendor. The bees were finding the cups in the trash and collecting the syrup.

Hello from Australia, 🐝
We have had a flow hive for 4 years now.
We like to use a large 20l food grade honey bucket with a lid and honey gate.
We drilled a hole into the lid and used a length of food grade clear plastic hose to poke into the hole in the lid and attached the other end of the hose onto the clear tap on the flow hive. The honey flows straight down the clear hose into the bucket.
No mess, no bees getting trapped in the honey, you don’t have to watch it so closely and then I can jar the honey inside easily, using the honey gate on the bucket. Very streamlined and no sticky fingers😊
Enjoy your honey

Canadian beekeeper here. I can't stress enough how much it would help you to take a beekeeping course. All of the questions you have, the terminology, all of it is answered in a course. I took a seven month one through a local college but even a shorter one, or weekend workshops would be very valuable. It's truly amazing how much you can learn from older beekeepers. That said, you guys are doing great and are concerned about all the right things. Your care and concern for the bees is wonderful. Carry on! You are doing great!

My concern… the bee bench wobbles too much and the tall hive will continue to become heavier and will flip your bench. A sturdier foundation is needed. Love your video presentations, information and love.
