  That mode of transportation is mostly common in that region! &nbsp;Also, A lot of people in Samaná are descendants from Black Americans that came from Philadelphia in the 1800&apos;s. Some people may still speak some english and many of them have english last names.

  he capital of the province of Samana is Santa Barbara de Samana, but is usually called only Samana. Samana is located in the same bay and has a small, offshore island, Cayo Virgia, which can be explored over a long foot bridge. Further out is the so-called Barcai island Cayo Levantado.
