Robert Englund was 56 when this movie came out and he was just as good in his performance as he was at the age of 37.

I think the reason they show Jason afraid of water is because Freddy attacks children. Jason reverted back to his childhood fear while in Freddy's dream world.

"Why won't you die?" Freddy asks an undead zombie. This is why you were a janitor before they killed you my guy.

If i remember correctly the explanation for why he is afraid of water in this and not other movies is because when he is in the dream world it brings out the fear he had as a child when he drowned. When he is awake he isn't effected by his fear or it is buried.

This movie is a perfect example of what happens when big fans of franchises actually get the chance to make their dream movie. And it was AWESOME! I loved this movie in the theater and till this day. It's goofy, cheesy, corny and funny! It even has a couple of spooky/startling moments. The perfect Freddie vs. Jason homage to the franchises and fans.
