  Why yes, I do own a FP Journe. I bought one of the very first 50 Octa Automatique 38mm with brass movement and straight Cotes de Geneve in 2001 in platinum, with gold dial. I still have all the boxes and papers, sales receipt, warranty, etc. This goes to prove that even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.

  Thanks for this one Johannes! I, too have been scratching my head a bit about F.P. Journe. I knew the watches were beautiful but they&apos;re so rare in the wild that they weren&apos;t really on my radar. That changed when Brit Pierce gushed about the Eleganté she was lucky enough to purchase and, while I&apos;m not really a quartz guy, it was obvious that, though it wasn&apos;t really to my taste, it is a very special watch.<br><br>For now, I&apos;ll admire them from afar but there are a couple of the watches that are squirming around in my lizard brain, the Ultimaté being one. Damnit!

  How is this only at 8 comments???!<br><br>I first saw F.P.Journe in The Wristwatch Annual in 2007/8 and was instantly taken by the grey face with stand out white sub-dials and blue hands. It was an immediate favourite aesthetic…and then the prices…they were still beyond reach back then. But hey ho, one could dream.

  I was saving up for an FPJ 10 years ago. Then overnight it became an asset class with 200% returns and priced out the watch nerds. Cant compete with that. Theres few FPJ worth over 20,000. Its all speculative pricing at this point

  First of all - respect for your work and your video. But please...<br><br>...not another video about an “Independent Watchmaker”… 🙄<br>Of course, F.P. Journe. Of course, brilliant. Of course, unique. Of course, “artisan”, “visionary”, “mastermind” — and whatever other superlatives social media has in its vocabulary. 😂<br>One could almost get the impression that the watches become better the more often Instagram declares them to be horological world heritage.<br>What fascinates me these days is less the watch itself and more the mechanism behind the hype: a little exclusivity, a little artificial scarcity, a lot of social media — and suddenly the price explodes.<br>And while these “Independent Watchmakers” are being elevated to the new icons of haute horlogerie, apparently the estates and the car collections grow accordingly. 😏<br>Perhaps we should simply stop financing this hype with our attention. 🍿<br>And the best part? The more we talk about them, the more expensive they become.<br>Quite an impressive business model, really. 😏
