Okay OKAY OTGW LORE ENTHUSIAST HERE And I'm writing this throughout watching the whole video because WOW EVERY CHARACTER??? IM IN HEAVEN

The only thing I'd skip is Wirt. Because, honestly, I've heard everything possible about him, everyone in this fandom talk about him, it's exhausting, sorry...

1. The intro is AMAZING.
2. Greg, imo, is as much as a main character as Wirt is. And, well, I think he's not a "character withour an arc" he actually has TWO of them: both arc of changing and arc of keeping. He does change for the better, as other comment noted, but also he keeps his optimism and hope for the better, despite everything happening around. And it shows in how the Beast challenges him - the quests are, ultimately, useless. But the thing is that the Beast can take someone if they surrender one way or another, and Greg is so hopeful and strong in his soul that the Beast has to physically exhaust him.
3. The frog being a narrator is actually an amazing theory material. But also I really love how you use all the names he had!
4. ROCK ANALYSIS?? Well, I thought that "every character" just means "most memorable ones", as it usually is, but WOW.
5. I really kinda like the moment in the novels where it's stated Woodsman was a judge. Fellow... Please just organize a court and idk enjail Beast... (JOKE)
Though, yes, imo he's an incredibly tragic character that is also underrated.
6. Also note (might del later): edelwood trees are formed from the body, too. IF IT WILL PLAY...
7. Beatrice's curse is an interesting thing to discuss, honestly. Do bluebirds curse people or it's the Unknown itself? And are Adelaide's scissors the only option, or maybe any other cutting goes? Are they magic-driven even?
8. I didn't think much about the turtles, but I agree that they might be rather a symbolism... It works well with the overall story.
9. THE DOG ANALYSIS IS SO GOOD THOUGH?? I think that there's a way to explain it also with the idea of turtles being "imperfections" - a pet turns back into a wolf, everything primal coming out.
10. Th. The MOON? I'm on friend territory deep lore woooahhh...
11. Pottsfield is AMAZING and I really like to think that it might represent a second chance and a peaceful afterlife. A lot can be discussed. Like, a LOT.
12. Enoch is SO COOL I mean. He might be a cat. He might be not. He might be just a mayor or the eldest, and he might be a harvest god. Everything is possible about him.
13. The WHAT DRESSING PUMPKIN i thought it was just a lady with a really low voice... Though it's neat! Love me some queer skeletons.
14. It was also mentioned it the extended version of Langtree's Lament that Jimmy was missing for just three days... The attachment issues character.
15. Yeah, there is a fox! Oh btw, it's a cat, not a squirrel (graphic novels, despite being non-canon, state that her name is Kitty)
16. Just a lil note, I like to think that the sheeps are siblings-
17. Mr. Langtree's design is actually amazing. This coat is both funny AND tells a lot about his personality. Otgw actually just has top tier designs.
18. The people on the concert is also a theory fuel! I;'ve seen people saying they might be ghosts because of unnaturally pale skin, but they might just be people of any nearby village of some sort?
19. THE SQUIRRELS THOUGH they vere shown on a tree in the very first episode! Like, one of the first scenes after the prologue!

!!!WE ARE ENTERING MY OWN TERRITORY!!! I just love the tavern a bit too much.

20. Highwayman is actually a way more interesting character than people might think. He's stated to be a criminal, and his song is threatening, but people are happy to hear it and he engages in action with everyone! I mean, he seems to be their friend!
21. The tavern name is quite confusing, becuase they know about the lantern and what it means - and the idea of them being dead and IN the lantern is highly illogical (the point it that the Beast is in the lantern and no one else), so the easiest idea is that... They messed up the signboard.
22. Yes, it's one of the comics issues! But the thing is that Fred himself hints at that he might've made it all up. Also, i don't believe that Highwayman is a ghost, no way none of 18 more people would ever notice.
23. The dog was once identified as an Old English Sheepdog, which makes a LOT of sense, because this fella keeps the door, literally protecting people inside like they're his flock.
24. Note: Violin was played upside down. Also, I know damn well that it's a 4/4 violin and the guy is using a second hand position.
25. A vibe? Well, it's actually a direct reference! Though I can kinda suspect that Keeper dislikes bluebirds because they... Well... Curse people.
26. Juuust a note... Butcher is the only person there who handled Wirt gently and he seems very worried about Keeper accidentally knocking Wirt down. Also, like, his speech might sound agressive, but it's JUST intonation, nothing actually mean was said. Aaaand the bow in his hair- the actual sweetheart right there.
27. I DIDNT EVER VIEW IT THAT WAY?? Though Baker being Greg's relative is fire. But, to notice - there are things that can be said personality-wise! Baker seems to be very social and outgoing (way of speech) and probably quite impulsive (he throws a mug after Highwayman's song).
28. There are a LOT of ideas what a fish could be... Either, yes, a ref to her profession, or what other comment noted, or a hint to Wirt and Greg drowning, or referencing to fish as a symbol of birth/rebirth, life and sometimes cycles, or (very inappropriate joke but there are two women in the tavern), OR... she's just a goofball.
29. OH, I do have a... Not a theory, more like a headcanon. Master and Apprentice look kinda like they're from a bit later time period and/or are in a higher social class. Not knights, they are called kinghts and pages/squires. Also, they BOTH look very young. We already have people of art. The closest I can think about is science, because we also really lack scientists in this tavern. And medicine is also a science, so that might be the reason Midwife sits with them.
30. Also, just to note. The rope on these fellas isn't a leash. It's tied both ways, and they don't change it onscreen (minus animation errors). I think it's rather about safety - like, to not to get lost, tavern people know what the Beast does to ones lost. AND YEAH, I've thought that the joke in "follow your heart" was either in the funnily mismatching voice or in it being a useless advice, but THEY TRICKED ME, it's very useful.
31. Imo, Tailor is actually not sad. As we see from "it's a metaphor" line, he's rather sentimental and very sensitive to anything, so he might cry just because everything around touches him deeply.
32. I feel really REALLY curious about Toymaker. He was portrayed as the narrator in stop-motion special, and, well, does it connedt him to the frog in some way??
33. Okay, Calligrapher also has personality and I'll explain. He's the first person to be introduced in the song, and probably didn't even understand what's going on, jumping straight into action instead. Plus his design - I was angry while trying to change his pose when drawing, but he's actually shaped both very neatly and VERY friendly.
34. Cobbler looks like an orange cat. Like, THE orange cat. I'm hiding it in this pile of rambling.
35. Patissier is also pretty nicely shaped in traits of personality I could see! He doesn't speak, though - but he seems to be overly friendly and tactile, which also adds to his friendship with Baker - they are almost the same flavour of silly.

We.. Huh.. Phuh.... I'm kinda tired but I've literally quaked in my boots writing all that I WILL GET BACK TO IT SOMEDAYYY THANK YOUY

I would argue that Greg did actually change in the unknown. At the beginning when Beatrice "owed them a favor" Greg kept calling it a "wish" and asked for things like... to be turned into a tiger and that Jason Funderbuker had fingernails to play the guitar better. Later the Queen of the clouds granted him one wish. He choose to turn himself over to the beast to save Wirt so they could go home. He could've wished for anything but gained a little more responsibility.

I do have a theory about the two coins greg throws into the fountain, but it may also be far fetched. The idea is that the two pennies repredent each of their souls and if they did pay for the farrie they would have died because it would have meant they accepted and paid death. But since they snuck on they "passed" the test to stay alive. Idk I watch one of your other videos about over the garden wall and you also said there you didnt know what it represented. Hope this helps!

The animals that Greg plays with in Episode 3 are "playin' hooky!'" They should be in school, but they don't want to go, so they don't. It's very Little Rascals coded, as is much of the episode.

Auntie Whispers and Lorna are my absolute favorites in this show! The twist that Lorna is actually the monster and Auntie was the one keeping it at bay and is essentially a good witch as opposed to her sister was very interesting, and I love how Auntie and Lorna do seemingly stay together as a little family in the epilogue

Loved the video! I always thought of auntie whispers eating the turtles as eating the “impurities” of the unknown, rather than anything malevolent :D

Lorna is sorting the bones of her victims in the prologue so she was already possessed.

Great video! I hope it picks up more traction. Have you watched infinity train? It’s not a short series, but each of the 4 seasons focuses on a new character and are only 10 episodes each
