  First of all, it's not YOUR house, it's the house they wanted. I would want to see floorplans for a number of these houses, to see what's behind walls that might should have had windows, how efficient is the layout, etc.  Some of the ones you thought of as "monstrosities" were, to my taste, very interesting, and unique.

  You keep using the word "McMansion," but I don't think it means what you think it means. A McMansion is a BIG house on a too small lot, surrounded by similarly big houses on small lots. It's not a big, ugly house. It's a big house squished together with a bunch of other big houses ... kind of like a row of fast food restaurants with only drive-through lanes dividing one building from the next.

  Some of these were well put together. Others looked like office buildings or prisons. Others again, their design(s) were just not well thought out. Will state that some of these were attractive & pleasing to the eye.

  What this video told me is that we are not taxing the rich enough.  Insane houses while most can't even afford an apartment.

  Many of these houses were inspired from Scotland, France, german Castels or Russia. It is remindering them of the homelands of their parents or grandparents.

  Not all of these are horrible, but none are superb either, and some have elements that I like.

  Some of them were nice but some people need to stop using the Winchester Mystery House as inspiration 😆
