Pros and Cons of Living in Daytona Beach Florida

  We own 2 houses in Daytona Beach.They are approximately 2 minutes away from each other. One is in Daytona and the others in South Daytona. <br><br>There&apos;s a completely different vibe in each neighborhood. The Daytona Beach neighborhood which originally was mostly retirees and over a fifteen year period has become about 30-40 percent rentals or investment properties. This changes the whole vibe of the community. One of the nice features is it&apos;s &nbsp;very active community. Lots of walkers and pet owners as well as retirees can be seen at any time of the day, which adds a sense of security. <br><br>One drawback is that our community is only a small part of the city. Areas can become pretty long in the tooth &nbsp;if not addressed by reporting to codes. Codes will only come if there is a complaint. They are great when you need them but have too many other &nbsp;areas to address.<br><br>Our South Daytona our &nbsp;property is an older neighborhood smaller houses.<br>With a lot of variety and style. It&apos;s a tiny little neighborhood with lots of trees and shade and very little traffic running through. Even though it&apos;s actually closer to the main road we hear less traffic sound because of all the trees. It really has that small town feel compared to the other house. City management really listens to their community. There is a strong code enforcement, good if you follow the rules, not so much if you play it loose. <br><br>Both South Daytona and Daytona are reciprocal responders when emergencies happen near their borders.<br><br>When we bought the South Daytona property, one thing I did and I would recommend most people do, is to go on the county website and actually look up their neighboring houses and it will tell you whether they are homesteaded, or whether they&apos;re not homesteaded. That will give you an idea of whether you&apos;re running into an investment area or a rental area. I specifically picked the street that I live on because everybody on that street was owner occupied, which in my experience tends to have people who take better care for the home and are more respectful overall.

  Daytona Beach went to school, married, oldest son born in Halifax ,lived in Ormond by the Sea &nbsp;heavens on earth , great memories forever. Tourists yes but needed for local economy, traffic hardly any unless in popular events days which provides jobs and living cheap on a beautiful beach. Never ancounter a hurricane or flooding there. A plus indeed

  Great video and I appreciate the honest information. &nbsp;We have family that live there and are considering buying to live in part time and for investment purposes. &nbsp;So this video was a great jumping board for what we need to know and the investigation we need to do before moving forward.

  Excellent info ! Thanks for being as honest as possible. Only question here is the home owners, understood it is Florida, but the nightmares from friends from past hurricanes living there is a concern. Concerns of hurricanes of course but the insurance companies &nbsp;can be a total and unfair experience.

  We live in Orlando. We have been on the search for the perfect weekend condo. We dont need anything huge. A studio will be aok ! There are 4 of us. We just cant find the right one yet.

  Have visited since 1976 with parents! Have stayed at Oceanwalk resort for 12 years ! Dont care to return as there is no beach left! !

  I&apos;m not in a position to buy. Are there generally known clean and less expensive small Apartments or small side rentals from NSB, Daytona Beach, to Ormond Beach or maybe close to the river on the mainland? Go to places starting out for one person with no pets. Thank you and great content!
