  “…you knew?” he whispered, realization dawning on him.<br> &nbsp;“Hmm?” She asked from the kitchen, chopping up the vegetables for the nights dinner.<br> &nbsp;“You knew,” he spoke a bit louder, bile rising in his throat as he waited for her refusal. Instead, she looked up at him with a soft smile, pausing her meal prep. <br> &nbsp;“I did,” she replied softly. It was different from her normal smile, sickening, almost pitying.<br> &nbsp;“Since when?” He spoke, the words slipping out without a thought, his blood running cold.<br> &nbsp;“Since always,” she answered, crossing her arms and leaning against the pillar “well, I suppose that’s not entirely true. I always had my suspicions, but I didn’t know for sure until the Gala,”<br> &nbsp;“That long?” He breathed in disbelief, taking a step backwards as his world fell apart. She…knew? He had done so many things, killed so many…and…she knew the whole time. “Are you going to stop me?”<br>She smiled once more.<br> &nbsp;“I already have. They’ll be here any minute,” sirens already sounded in the distance.<br> &nbsp;“Did…,” his throat failed, resisting &nbsp;asking the question he desperately didn’t want to know the answer to “did you ever love me?” <br>She straightened, taking a few steps closer to him.<br> &nbsp;“I think I’m the one who gets to ask that question,” she replied “after all, you were the one who lied,”<br>Fury boiled inside him.<br> &nbsp;“…Lied? you-,”<br> &nbsp;“I never had to,” she answered his unspoken question “you never paid enough attention,”<br> &nbsp;“No,” he shook his head “you DID love me, I made sure of it,” he laughed “otherwise, why would you warn me they’re coming? Give me time to escape?”<br> &nbsp;“I knew you wouldn’t,” she answered, drawing ever close, her hand trailing on the kitchen counter as the sirens got closer.<br> &nbsp;“…and how are you so sure?” He questioned. Movement through the windows was caught in the corner of his eye, causing him to move towards his coat where the medallion was waiting.<br>She grabbed his hand, resting it on her waist as she grabbed his neck, kissing him. He froze, melting into it, her touch burning his skin as glass shattered behind him. She pulled away, her eyes seeing through to his soul.<br> &nbsp;“Because you love me,” she replied, dropping her hands from his face as the officers grabbed him.<br>He was dropped to the ground, arms pulled behind his back.<br> &nbsp;“You haven’t answered my question,” he called, his voice growing more manic as she turned away “Did you love me?Answer me! Do you love me!?”<br>Cold tears slipped down her face as they pulled him away in cuffs.<br><br>She had loved him. She had loved who he could’ve been, who he should’ve been. The life they should’ve had.<br>But it was too late. <br>She had already finished mourning.

  “I love you more than anything” he whispered to you, and the sweet softness in his voice made you feel sick, bile rising in your throat. you would have swooned once upon a time, but now you saw his eyes, his cold bitter eyes. there was maybe love somewhere in those dark swirls of color, but deep down. you brought your hand up to cup his cheek, and he leaned into your touch, eyes fluttering shut. a sweet moment, but the bitter and joyless smile broke across your somber face, as you rubbed your thumb on his cheek and his eyes opened.<br><br>“oh how pretty you are when you lie.” you whispered, and his eyes widened. oh, he knew he was caught, he knew that you knew everything the moment he looked you in the eyes. he was silent for a while, his lower lip between his teeth as he seemed to try and think of words to say. think of saccharine sweet mistruths to purr into your ear, but as your hand dropped from his face, his eyes landed back on you and he realized that his words would not work this time.<br>“darling, please don’t-“<br><br>“don’t what? tell everyone that you’ve been lying about everything ever since the beginning? I wonder if you approached me the day we met with this in mind. did you think I would be the perfect alibi for you?” you asked, and your nails dug into your palms when his hand touched your face. he wiped away hot tears that you weren’t even aware had fallen.<br><br>“yes but- but my love for you was always real. I’ve never lied about that I swear-“ he tried to say, tried to hold your face in his hands and convey his words through his bodily warmth, anything.<br><br>“you think I can trust your words? you could be lying to me right now. and I- I can’t-“ the words got stuck in your throat, his teary eyes threatened to shatter your resolve. his hands were shaking, and yours were too. but no matter how your heart twisted and ached, you felt such a sting. betrayal, by the one you love and trust the most, is a wicked thing. you took a deep breath, wiping at your eyes, looking right at him. “god, i was so naive to be so utterly in love with you.. I wanted to marry you! maybe I still do.” you said as you rubbed your arms, suddenly feeling so cold. your beloved looked at you with such heartbroken eyes, the strands of hair you had slicked back for him only hours earlier with a bubbly smile falling across his face in the breeze. behind him, the sun had finally disappeared from the sky, the final rays of it’s light bathing you both.<br><br>“my love.. my beautiful starling, please.. please don’t do this- I can leave it all behind, I will! we can get married and live far away, just us-“ he begged, sobbing, reaching out to you again with those lovely hands of his. your hands, the ones that belonged to you.<br>“maybe, maybe you can.” you murmured as he took your hand in two of his.<br><br>“but until then, my love lies with the man you said you were, my beloved.” you said, and your hand slipped from his fingers. he tried to say something, but you were already gone. too afraid that if you glanced back for even a second, you would cave in and run to him, kiss him and thread your fingers through his hair. fall into his spiders web all over again.<br><br>no. you couldn’t do that to yourself. <br>if he loved you, he would find you again.<br>“and i know you love me.”<br>__<br><br>(there was a thought and then I completely lost it 💀💀💀)

  Her hands were trembling as she point the dagger to his heart. She tried her best to keep her composure when she saw him bounded by chains and covered in his own blood. She knew it from the start that she&apos;s the one who should end him. She has to be the one who should do it. <br> <br>The people in the plaza was gathered around to witness the saintess to kill the villain. The eyes that she once loved is looking at her full with anger and disgust. <br> <br>She bent down at his level and looked into his eyes. &quot;Any last words?&quot; she managed to stop the tears coming from her eyes and the sob in her throat. <br> <br>&quot;I loathe you. I will die hating every inch of you and I regret meeting and falling in love with you.&quot; Every word pierced her heart as if he&apos;s the one holding the dagger and stabbed it to her. But its for the better. He should be hating her. Afterall, she betrayed him. <br> <br>&quot;Good,&quot; she raised the dagger in front of his chest and closed her eyes tightly. The holy symbols glowed as she chanted a prayer. She took a deep beath after chanting the prayer and slowly opened her eyes. She looked at him once again and smiled at him. The same smile that he used to love. &quot;Just remember that I love you and don&apos;t blame yourself for this.&quot; <br> <br>With that, she pushed the dagger into his chest. His eyes widened as a magic circle appeared on their chests. The crimson blood started to spread across her white dress. He looked at her once again and she was still smiling at him. Then he remembered their contract when she came under his wing. <br> <br>&quot;One shall not harm the other, for this harm will be bounced back to the doer. Hence, if one tried to kill the other, the doer shall die. <br> <br>It stuck him like a lighting. She never betrayed him. All of the the things and the conditions that she made was for him. It was all because she knew she had to protect him.
