  I feel like an empty shopping mall was pointing to " what building in current times would be empty and private enough to have a meeting?". Malls are one of the few places drying up and closing down nationwide.

  I don't think Guy considers all the intricacies of a bull horn. He just makes one. But they want John to be able to build more technical things, and John proves he can. Hal and Guy create facsimiles, but John creates actual things.

  I think not referencing his mother surviving prior to the apple thing was definitely deliberate. <br><br>I was also caught off guard by the delivery of that line, but I think it&apos;s more about him challenging her to be fearless. Sort of recognizing he can do this for her if she can do it for him.

  John Sr does mention later on “the diamond money’s run out” so they did presumably manage to sell it, and wound up spending it on training equipment/satellite dishes to communicate with the Guardians.

  The “Midwest huxtables” comment was a micro aggression and racist. Hal was trying to piss them off and called John “Junior” when told they call him “John”. <br><br>Hal is being antagonistic and an asshole on purpose <br><br>It was meant to be mildly racist

  The gift of the diamond as “compensation“ is a perfect example of the ignorance of the guardians. They have no idea that moving an asset like that is very difficult. Where did the people get the diamond? That’s probably the biggest diamond in the entire world. If they are compensating other candidates with similar diamond, why is the market getting flooded with these gigantic diamonds? If I was randomly gifted a Picasso painting worth $10 million, I can’t just go to the pawnshop and sell it.
