European kids are given more responsibility. We don't call 25 year old men and women 'college kids'. There is a huge dichotomy in the US. On the one hand you get a job at 16, drive at 16, enter the military at 18, go to war but can't get a drink at 18, and get called 'kids' at 21. Used to drive me crazy when I lived there.

Australian show about Finland..yes - unlike USA, our news channels and media educate us about other countries beyond our own.

Listen to their English at that age, and especially the fact that these kids can understand an Australian. Wow. I am impressed. America, you have a long way to go. From an Australian.

we in Finland can be happy that no matter what kind of home you come from, you have the opportunity to get an education. it is not determined by money❤

Teachers in Finland enjoy looong vacations: in the summer from the beginning of June to early August, a week in October, nearly three weeks over the Christmas and the New Year and one week in February.

I just read an article where a neurologist explained that an adult's brain can work effectively maximum of 4-6 hours per work day. There is no point in keeping kids at school for hours and hours. The kids benefit from playing outdoors.

I grew up in Canada , I had ice rinks outside of all my elementary schools!
Canada and Finland are very similar with hockey obsession.

The sad truth over here (Finland) is that the education level used to be even higher and it's been in steady decline these past decades with schools shutting down in rural areas, making it very difficult for kids living outside the most heavily populated areas to have access to education - they resort to remote education via videocalls, but that's not the same as interacting with other children in person. Funding from public education is also dwindling each year more and more. : /

6:28 - Yes, exactly like that. Schools in Helsinki (capital) are way more funded and better equipped than a school in Sodankylä (rural, northern part of Finland), for example.

If you are a citizen of a country in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) countries, or Switzerland, you can study in Finland for free - you do not have to pay any tuition fees. So nobody has to make debts. ⬅⚠🧐

It always amazed me the level to which parents have a determining rôle in how schools are run and suhjects taught in the US. Adults don't tell surgeons how to operate, auto mechanics how to fix their cars, or even how football coaches run their teams. This is because most adults aren't trained in surgery, auto mechanics, or football technology. So, why tell teachers how to teach?
