  I’m white and grew up singing Lift Every Voice &amp; Sing in church (Unitarian universalist) I didn’t learn til years later that it’s considered the Black national anthem. It’s a beautiful song and much more melodic than the current national anthem. I’d be happy to have that as our “official” anthem.<br><br>EDIT: I do think many white people may just not know this song, or know it as the Black national anthem. Hopefully once aware of this, some of them will be positive about it, and it’s a song that we can all sing as Americans. It’s an American song.
