  George McKay (The escaped murderer with the handlebar moustache) died in prison this year at 69.

  So horrific for the family who were subjected to that robbery, and the cruel way the robbers killed their dog. I hope they were caught.

  One thing strikes me about watching these old crimewatch programmes is how many murderers have never been caught

  &quot;if you don&apos;t have a telephone&quot;. A good reminder of how much poverty there was in the 80s. A lot of people didn&apos;t actually have one - pretty astonishing to us these days.

  Update on the Colin Maxwell case: his mother&apos;s boyfriend, Albert Newman, confessed to the murder when suffering from mental illness. He was charged with the murder in 2004 and it went to trial. The prosecution offered no evidence because Newman&apos;s &nbsp;confession was unreliable because of his mental health, and the judge accordingly found him innocent. Newman had a history of violence and had been imprisoned before for a &quot;serious offence&quot;. He told a fellow inmate in prison that he had killed a 13 year old boy.

  Sad that the Mark Yendall murder is still unsolved nearly 40 years later. Such a bizarre case.

  That James Baigrie in the first photo-call was tracked down In London two months after this programme. Just as the police pounced on the car he was is he shot himself dead.
