  I had a cousin who lived by the Hazard Projects. He was in gang and asked if I wanted to join when I was in High School. But I lived in Norwalk, and I said No. But my father wanted me to stay away from gangs. He is a Korean War Veteran and was strict with me. He brought me up Military Style and I am glad. Now I am 68 years old, and all my cousins were brought up in gangs from the East Side a West Side of Los Angeles. 2 of them are locked up in Prison now. I am retired from an Auto & Home Insurance Co. after 22 years. I worked hard all my life even working 2 jobs in my early 20's 7 days a week. Saved every penny and bought a new Home at 27 years old. Still living in the same home. Now I have 2 rental properties in California. All I can say is Stay Strong and you will Succeed. AMEN!!!

  The story of East LA you are telling correctly in 60s & 70s  I grew up in East LA on 4th street & Ferris and belong to a local gang what's saved my life after graduating high School I enlisted to  Marine corps

  I grew up and still live in East L.A. shit was wild even as a kid it wasn&apos;t safe to walk. You got banged on or had a gun pulled on you no matter what age. I remember years back during 4th of July we had dudes from LV banging on people chilling with their families and these guys were holding handguns and shotties under towels. It&apos;s calmed down alot but shit is still active at times

  Im from upstate NY but lived out in East LA for work last time I was stayin out there I got put on to all of this shit , got tattooed by a gang member he lived over in hazard territory , told me bout that movie you mentioned &amp; &nbsp;made me aware to a lot . I remember &nbsp;getting questioned by Mexicans while working where I’m from &amp; if I was from Compton or South Central 😂 Its wild you sayin exactly what he is . I ain’t even gon lie yall be wildin out west in a different way

  White Fence did get their name from a real White Picket Fence, but it wasn&apos;t a fence separating their area from others, it comes from a white picket fence that surrounded a local church in the middle of White Fences area, I think the church is called La Purissima Church, in fact before being called White Fence they were originally called La Purissima Crowd, also during the 1940&apos;s-1960&apos;s the name White Fence was also symbolic as a barrier between the White residents of the area and the Hispanics of the Neighborhood
