Louie was awesome. I’ve watched his video at the Guthrie - 1987, more times than I can count. I can relate to his childhood, and stories about his family. Also, flying and getting a ride to the airport. (You can see that at the beginning of his 1988 standup special). 😂

I got the amazing chance to meet Louie at the Las Vegas airport 20yrs ago. We were both sitting with delayed flights. In person, he was HILARIOUS!!
I laughed so hard my stomach hurt and I felt like people were gonna think I was crazy. Sadly, I was one of the few people there who recognized him. There was an occasional person who would walk up and say hello and knew who he was. I will never forget that night. I actually had won $20 on a slot machine but after talking with him for over an hour I forgot and never cashed out my ticket.

Louie Anderson was a comedian that you couldn’t help but just love the second he was on stage, or being interviewed, or when he was in shows/movies. He radiated such warmth, genuine love for his family (outside of his Dad which is a hilarious story that he weaves throughout his comedy), and he is someone who truly brought out the best in every comic he performed with. I literally could gush about him all day - his interviews with Conan, his role as Zach Galifinikas’s mom in the show Baskets, his stand up on HBO …he’s the best

I watched several full-length concert videos of Louie doing his stand up. He talks about so much more than just being overweight. He's hilarious.

Louie always worked clean as far as I recall. His jokes about Minnesota winters, status jumper cables and winter car-starting rituals were spot on. (Now with milder winters and fuel injection making cold weather starting so much more reliable, these jokes take a lot of explaining. )

He’s one of my favorites (maybe a little bias being we both are from from Minnesota.)
“Mom! Louie’s looking at me” is a classic.

Louie was an incredible comedian and a very sweet, beautiful human being. You should check out some of his personal interviews, especially when he talks about his family and being raised by his mother & father. Louie's mother gave birth to 16 children, with 11 children surviving to adulthood!

If you ever watched Carson you'd realize just how BAD late night television was after he left. No one....could come near Carson! He was the best.

Fun fact for the young people......the Rodney Dangerfield young comedians' special was an annual must-see on HBO, which also ran a ton of comics' first specials, called One Night Stand. Louie was immediately one of the standouts from that era of comedy.
