As a child, I used to find programs like this unbearably boring. Today, I found it very interesting, enlightening and enjoyable. Life might be better if we could live in reverse...?

I bought these VHS tapes for my mother years ago. They were out of print and cost me an arm and a leg. But I knew she'd love them!

This is so valuable just because it is a half-century closer to the actual makers. Where would you find a recent generation expert that grew up out of the modern wood-haters? There will Be no Ikea experts in the future, because wood pulp cast in hydrocarbon glues covered in black paint or plastic veneer will have gone back to dust.

What is it about "specialists" and "experts" though, going back to this era that makes them slightly abuse whatever they're showing you? Rubbing their acid-embedded from kidney pie hands and fingers over "well-preserved finishes"; —knocking and banging... and the one guy has special pinky rings on so he can lightly scratch everything he comes in contact with. I mean it— pay attention to the "experts" on Antique Roadshow. It looks like half of them are trying to either steal a few molecules from everything they touch or make sure their own DNA is rubbed into the cracks. It's weird. And then there's that twit glass expert who plays a little game of holding a rare 16th century stemmed goblet up with the very tips of three fingers high in the air. For what purpose? Just to make everyone uneasy for his own amusement? Or make himself stand out in some way? Not all of them for sure, but there is something deeply psychologically bent up with many of them.
