In an ocean of meaningless noise, I found a true gem from @gezushernan376 - treat this as a lesson in actually valuable "nitpicking".
Toph should not be able to see in the library AT ALL. The live action itself makes a point of including Jet into the mission because THEY CANNOT BEND after projecting. THAT is a full-blown plothole based on the information provided in this very show. 0 crude interpretations of what the show is trying to do, 0 references to the original - just straight facts from the show itself. Very good catch by this person - completely missed this myself. 🫡🫡

43:03 I think the reason the metal ending scene does not hit is because in the original it happens alongside Guru Patiks speech where he literally says that metal is purified earth, while in the adaptation it just happens out of the blue and feels totally random

BTW, how was Toph not able to tell that her mother was lying...?

The problem with how toph metal bends for the first time is less that it feels unearned for the character. More that it feels unearned in the narrative. In the original, she's given the idea to metalbend rather than just doing it on a whim when she's told that "even she can't bend metal" leading to her figuring it out being like her saying "bet". And we also get the guru explaining the illusion of separation between the elements in parallel with toph effectively teaching herself that same concept. Overall it's less about how it's delivered to toph and more about how it's delivered to us. Another example of the show assuming knowledge from the original show and using it as a crutch

I am honestly suprised that you didn't say anything about Zuko stealling from the pregnant lady

I think they want to try to highlight other aspects of the characters than the cartoon did, but in doing so they kind of forget the core of the character. Like Iroh and the thief. In the cartoon, Iroh didn't react to the threat because it wasn't one. It was a pickpocket talking crazy to a Navy Seal. In the live action he doesn't react because...he's depressed? I guess they want Iroh on a different stage in his journey, but Iroh was supposed to be the father figure Zuko didn't know he needed, not the PTSD ridden uncle he needed to help. He was an example of what to be, now he feels more like a warning of what not to be.

This is a classic case of wanting to have your cake and eat it too.. they want to be their own thing but most of the show is just them trying to make every memorable moment from the original with no real through line

Aang lashing out at Katara was insane. My Aang would never, especially not if she helped people.

My biggest problem is that the dialogue is such second screen viewing oriented. Netflix has a real problem with this. The dialogue takes me out of it with them explaining everything

I hated the Iroh teaching redirection scene so much. It's one of my favorite scenes in the original, and they made it rushed by having Zuko tweaking out the whole time, and not even wanting to learn. On top of zapping Iroh with lightning, he barely sneaks in the line about it coming from water bending, instead of just doing it in the right order to show the point of what he is saying from the get go. That the world is all connected and the separation of the elements is not fixed.
