Fabulous channel . My grandmother was a young midwife in the East end - the local lads used to wait for her to guide her down the tenaments alleys so she could help deliver a baby. They would then take her back to the Whitechapel Road so she could depart safely on her bike. Subscribed!! 💫

It's only 50 years since Docklands became trendy. Before that they were rundown and unloved. Great watch.

I used to live in Hackney in the 90s and early 2000s, we used to cycle along the canals down to the river while Doclands was still developing.... those were good times

Excellent video. Been a Londoner all my life and I know the area well but there's always something new to learn. Thanks.

I am glad YouTube recommended you! The topic was so interesting, and you have a great voice for narration. I am particularly interested in the change places go through over time; the who, what, when, where and why.

Once upon a time, I was a resident of London, where I spent the last few years of my time living on the very top floor of a residential building in Docklands. With a view I adored, I often felt like I had it made! What a lovely time in my life that was. xxxx

A really well written dollop of London history -- deserves way more attention.

Superb documentary. I have a great affinity with the River. Family traced back to C17th Greenwich, and East India Company. I worked at the Royal Victoria Docks in the 1970's, and later at "Sunlight Wharf", upriver at Blackfriars. So many places shown I can remember and relate to, so thanks for the memories! Congratulations on an excellent presentation. Will seek out more of your work.

This was my first visit to your channel. Thoroughly enjoyed the video and will definitely be back. I'll check out some of your earlier work later.

Back in those days a local villain would probably whack you with a cosh and steal your purse. Now it's full of people in banking, insurance, IT, hedgefunds, real estate., marketing, plus influencers etc.
They'll take the lot !
Makes you weep for the old days.

Wow that was awesome! My great uncles use to work on the docks my family ancestry goes back to the 1600’s in East London so this subject of the docklands and any history of East London fascinates me immensely, thanks for the video, love all your other ones too, please keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great video! I'm a Londoner living in NZ, I remember delivering pizza leaflets to the small amount of flats that were there in the late 80's!
