The John Galliano dress Diana wore to the Costume Ball (now known as the Met Gala) originally had a corset in it. Diana tore the corset out in the car on the way to the event. She found it uncomfortable, and John Galliano was horrified whilst she did so. He said she felt liberated after doing so. She had only divorced four months earlier and felt she could be much more daring with fashion. Diana was also John Galliano’s first haute couture client, and it was his first year at Christian Dior, so he felt lucky she wanted to wear his designs.

When you feel like you’re walking through a minefield (which she did) the people who are making you feel like that really need to look to their own motives. Why? Why would your new family do that? Envy. The green eyed monster. She outclassed them, genuine, good, kind people don’t act like that.
