Priya Adhikari is Nepal's first female helicopter rescue pilot. Having played a leading role in hundreds of rescue flights, Adhikari has been actively involved in rescuing people affected by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa. Pilot Adhikari's fame grew even further after she shared her rescue experiences with some international media outlets during this time. She was then followed by so many media outlets for interviews that Adhikari had to request through social media that people stop calling her for interviews. Pilot Adhikari initially worked as an air hostess. By chance, one day while traveling, she boarded a helicopter. During that time, she asked the pilot about "pilot" training/studies and also took photos and videos during the journey. She went home and told her mother about the idea she had formed of studying to become a pilot. They discussed the money needed for pilot training. She also explored options on how to arrange for it. Listening to this, it seems she went into pilot training almost playfully/by chance. But the message of this conversation is that if you have your parents' support along with your own dedication and hard work, everything is possible. Presented here is a brief excerpt of a discussion in which pilot Adhikari participated, under a podcast that was started to inspire youth when Sumana Shrestha was the Education Minister.
