It's so ingenious. You create a class of highly disciplined people, put them under pressure and allow them to break the law (black markets, foreign media consumption) in order to create guilt in them so that they actually don't do anything against you, because of fear to lose their privilege and have their misconduct revealed.

Songbun/classism goes on in the US and yet they have some nerve pointing out North Korea does the same thing. Those rich white men and women sipping tea in the country club and killing the stock market (the 1%) are not being disturbed. In the US it is almost impossible to change your class upwards. You can't just jump into Yale, Stanford, or Princeton with your poor food stamp background. Hypocrites!!!!!!!
