  I said this in a tweet a while back that compared Orion and D's reactions. "One had his suspicions confirmed in the worst way possible, the other had his entire worldview shattered and learned the person he looked up to was a monster."

  I love the High guard sequence because it comes at possibly the <b>worst</b> time for an emotionally unstable D-16. Before it happens he could’ve probably gone down a different path, but the High guard’s “might makes right” perspective radicalizes him into a ball of hatred.

  I really love that Orion Pax was a sort of ride-the-line rulebreaker while D-16 was a straight-laced by-the-book guy. When they both find out that Sentinel was lying to them, Orion can adapt to that and start trying to overthrow him, but it completely breaks D-16 and shatters his worldview, and that fundamental dissonance is what drives them apart. That’s compelling.

  Another thing that I enjoyed is why D-16 adores Megatronus Prime: “He’s the coolest and the strongest”; even early on, D-16 respects overwhelming strength
