Swedish is such a pretty language. As an English speaking American I’m transfixed by the enunciation.

The Swedish royal family historically possessed relatively few native jewels. Many of the most exquisite pieces entered the collection through the Bernadotte dynasty, originally French, with Napoleon himself gifting several treasures. Additional splendor came from Russia: following the Bolshevik Revolution, members of the Russian nobility fled and often sold their jewels to survive. Queen Mary of Teck acquired many of these at extremely low prices, paying only a fraction of their true worth. Russia, long renowned for its majestic collections, still displays remarkable pieces in the Kremlin. The country’s abundance of diamonds from the Ural Mountains further explains their prominence in Russian jewelry traditions.

I love that she is a Queen, and on her left wrist are bracelets made by her grandchildren. I think those bracelets are pretty valuable to her. ♥♥

I think The Queen and The Crown Princess are so well spoken and polished ladies. They learn the history of their jewelry and when, where and how to wear it. They do speak to the observer about the period they were made and are examples of Sweden’s history through the ages. Keep wearing them ladies!
