How Rogue Decks Can Beat the Meta

Konami needs to give some of these older decks more clear win conditions and pay offs... Charmers did get HUGE support but like Jessie said here, there's no real pay off for it so they have to go into K9 or something else... The same goes with Harpies - Cyber Slash Harpie Lady is their boss monster with a 2600 ATK. Most decks would consider her a mini-boss, like Swordsoul having their mini-boss having 2800 ATK. The pay off is just not there!

How rogue deck can beat meta by hoping your opponent has no idea what your deck does so they will misplay

I've tried putting together a Charmer Fiendsmith deck, because the original Charmers are lvl 3 for Melomelody, and the Charmer fusion is a lvl 6 for Ptolemy so you can keep Necroquip on field to draw off from an added back Engraver.

This is kinda what i did with mikanko during snake eye format
Snake eye ash ended on huli with equip and spiritwalk, flamberge, double arc light, promethean in grave, amblowhale, all because jet synchron is a level 1 fire tuner that can summon itself back, you had all the strengths of both mikanko which is always wrote off as a blind second slop strategy where you can replace all the mikankos with tenpai cards and have a better deck but in the past huli was very hard for decks to remove so passing on huli did work for a while, as well as the strengths of snake eyes(tons of extenders) and i did a similar thing with fiendsmith(tour guide summon sangan make moon add revolution synchron from sangan which can then be used to make power tool braver dragon, or the good version which was just using diviner to make braver then going into fiendsmith)

And now the new cards completely ignore the going first strategy the first waves were doing(three traps and a way to search them) while also being awful cards(why does sanaki not have at bare minimum the illusion effect, why does uzuhime not add mikanko cards and is locked to mikanko, why is shinbu not each effect once per turn)
Yes ive been mad abt the cards for the past year and no that anger isnt going to stop

It's funny too. Back before Halqifibrax was banned, Link Fish was a sleeper deck that nobody ever played but was totally possible. I'm talking two card combo that was consistently easy to do with lifeless leaffish and any other level 4 water monster. I didn't have the money to buy the deck at the time, but essentially it abused coelacanth twice (since he isn't hard once per turn, and White Aura Monoceros can bring him back mid combo to do his effect again) to basically spray out links and synchros to end on a crazy board with dragite, appolousa, borreload savage with 3 negates, and crystal wing synchro dragon.

With a simple red eyes fusion in hand, you could also end up with a dragoon on board with all of those as well. It was great going first...but definitely not great going second. But if you did manage to go second, you could just summon white aura whale, clear board, summon accesscode pop back row, and then swing for game. Basically if your opponent cant stop you turn 1 or 2, you just win, which does mirror the general necessity of the meta. The biggest issue is playing through disruptions.

I use NATURIA spright. My finishing field is elf+pink and orange guy+ NATURIA antjaw. And then I win, it's really nice

Personally i'm experimenting with a charmers package in Fire King Tri-Brigade. Its a larger 55 card brew for an alt format i'm working on, but i can probably crunch it down to 50 for the advanced format.
