Why I DON'T LIKE using A "Phantom Center" channel

  The other day I saw in dream media a short proyector mounting up in the ceiling, that way you dont block the center channel

  Closer the distance the more you need to be in the center for great phantom center.

  Some of us grew up with mono and stereo movies, then eventually 5.1 and THX and the rest is history. I like stereo imaging for 2 channel music. I do not care for it in multichannel mixes that are made to have discreet channel output. <br><br>A good amount of information comes from the center channel, so I am of the mind that it shall either be the best speaker in the room or equal to the best. &nbsp;Crossovers at 60 and 80 Hz work very well for my rig.

  I also had best results with 60hz on a center channel - your room acustics will sometimes not play nice with 80hz so don’t get stuck in it.

  I use a phantom center in my 2-channel/game room. It works in there because I only have one chair and I am the only person that&apos;s in there. Plus tv watching and playing games is secondary to listening to music. &nbsp;Now I tried a phantom center in my living room and I hated it. I do not have center seating and only have chairs off to either side. My wife doesn&apos;t care, but the issue was too much for me. So I went back to using a center channel. My theater is a full 7.1.4 setup so no point in doing a phantom center there. &nbsp;I think it can work but I&apos;d rather use a center over a phantom center.

  KSpace… I’ve always used a large center in my fam room and my bedroom! I’ve listened to my system in Phantom and I didn’t care for lit! Large center is what I like!

  Got arendals and with the centre it feels to saturated, prefered it when i had a phantom centre. <br>These 1723&apos;s haven&apos;t got the widest dispersion hopefully when i try out the 1528&apos;s they&apos;ll be better.

  Well, here&apos;s a ideal for u that i did. In my living room and basement. I hav twin speakers that i used as my center channel. No matter where u sit the sound always sound like its coming from the center. I got the ideal from IMAX it&apos;s a whole new listening experience..

  my HT is setup for music first so phantom centre (for music) is great. I actually question myself at time if the centre speaker is on or not when watching movies.

  I found with a Center channel speaker, don&apos;t really notice that much sound coming out of the Left &amp; Right speakers

  IMO. phantom center only works if you are seating dead center and aligned with the tweeter/midrange driver and that your head is fixed like in a vise during the whole listening session, move your head just as little as two inches to either the L/R side and the image will start to collapse to one side no matter how good the speaker, espaically the closer you are the speakers, easy to test and hear for your self -try to play a continuous &nbsp;discrete center channel test tone/pink noise with a phantom &nbsp;center and then move your head to the L/R while listening to hear the effect it has.
