there’s something about hooded dudes and hidden blades that just clicks in a teenagers brain

“It just doesn’t feel very good to constantly have guards chasing you all across the map just because you’re riding a horse fast”

I had a very similar conversation in traffic court the other day. I was asked not to drive anymore

The "oh wait a minute he used the fuckin orb" moment when playing through a second time and wondering how Altair survived is very relatable.

Bro, a Pirate copy on PC runs perfectly while the Oficial one does not, that is wild.

The blend mechanic is meant to be Altair faking being a part of a priesthood/ being a scholar, they're not dressed as assassins they wear the robes of a priest. The game just doesn't do a good job explaining it and the robes became so iconic that you don't question why they wear them

I cant wait for that memory tech to exist in real life. So any ancestors of mine in the far future can watch me eating powdered donuts and watching Salt factory on youtube.

Every time I start a franchise over again you drop a video of said franchise and I’m all for it, even if you’re spying on me

Altair isnt dressed as an assassin, he's dressed as a priest. The assassins wear priest robes to blend in.

The assassin robes just become so iconic that we forget their origin. In this game that legacy hadnt built, they were just priestly robes to blend in with - then Ezio wore similar robes and boom, thats just what assassins wear.

An interesting tidbit is that while you cannot fight with the hidden blade in AC1, parrying with it instantly kills any enemy. Meaning that the enemies that take multiple parries or actual hits to kill are instantly killed, this even includes the bosses. While the hidden blade has a harsher parry window, the instant kills are worth it most of the time.

I always thought Altair's arrogant attitude was a tongue in cheek satire of how the player feels themselves when playing a game. You're gonna skip stuff, not listen properly, overestimate yourself and just want to get to the best parts of the game as soon as possible. I've taken it as a caricature of myself, which felt weirdly grounding while kinda covertly breaking the 4th wall at the same time. It made me reflect on myself and allow myself to immerse myself in the world more and take it more seriously. Hope that makes sense but I oddly enjoyed it for that reason back then.
