Have you ever had that experience where it feels like your mobile device has eavesdropped on your conversation? It's definitely a creepy feeling, even if you know it's not true. Be sure to use DeleteMe to erase your personal data online: https://joindeleteme.com/allthingssecured

All I know is I was cleaning out a cupboard in our kitchen, and found an electric "Santa Fe" branded quesadilla maker my grandmother had bought me years earlier, and my wife, sister and I were discussing it in the kitchen with me at the time. A few hours later, I had a ad for that exact brand of Quesadilla maker on my phone. It was nuts! I asked both my wife and sister if they had done a search for a quesadilla maker or anything even related to it and they both said no. We were freaked out. We have trusted nothing with a mic since. 🤣

My wife and i can have a conversation about something that we do not search online. Then later, we'll both get ads about what we talked about. That's no lie.

I have literally heard a phrase I have never heard before, only to have Facebook show me a page with that title a few minutes later. Absolutely listening all the time. You, sir, are wrong.

I disagree with the phones not always recording. I have done tests where we talk in the room about something, within a day we have targeted adds in our email. Most recently, I had someone replacing a toilet and mentioned in passing that I was thinking about a walk-in shower. By that evening, I had an email add for walk in shower installation.

Just wanted to tell you that your YouTube site is one of the best I’ve found.

You talk slow, you go slow, you speak English clearly, and I can easily follow what you are saying as well as where you are in your instructions on the iPhone.

Some people speak with a heavy foreign accent and goes so fast that I cannot begin to either understand them or keep up with them

So let me thank you in advance for a very good crisp, clear site.

the law says it's illegal "without consent", but who reads those thousand pages "terms and conditions"? and it's not because people are lazy but there is no meaningful consequence. What would one do if they don't agree with certain terms? There is no option to negotiate on those terms, so only choice is to stop using the phone. That's why we all just hit "I agree". Maybe consent was given in those terms and conditions, because it listens for sure, even after I disabled every app from accessing the microphone it still listens, so it's the device itself.

the part I don't get if they are not constently listening then how come that a few times when I talk about a topic I never searched or looked at and a few minutes or hours later I can see the same company pop up in Facebook?

If the phones aren’t constantly listening to us then how would you explain this? Driving in a new city, my phone in my lap with directions to somewhere. My driver says: “Look, Maserati dealership”. My phones says: “rerouting to Maserati dealership”. I don’t use Siri or any other voice control feature.

Another one, if still not convinced. My cousin is about to have a baby and the name he was going to give to his child is some country singer I have never heard of before. Same day my Youtube feed shows me this singer. I never listen to country music, and Youtube never recommended me country music before or after.
