My great grandfather was with the USGS team that mapped it about 100 years ago. No not topographic at that times. They were the creators of what would become a bedrock map

Love your videos, Myron. I am a retired geologist from the oil and gas industry now living in Portugal. My first geology teacher was a man similar to you at the University of New Mexico at that time in the 70's and he interested me then like you do now and he is why I became a geologist. Your channel and videos are so well crafted and they provide a unique learning environment, even for an old codger like me. I never stop learning. I'm also an avid environmental photographer and I can really appreciate the beauty that you capture in your work. This video is my favorite of all that I have seen of yours. I was a wellsite geologist in the Paradox Basin back inthe 1980's, and I have seen a lot of the country up close that you are describing, but in those days I didn't have the tools of Google Earth and drones available that provide such 3D perspectives. Keep that white board busy! Im looking forward to your next video!! Thank you for all that you do.

Myron, you are the best! I lived out in Utah and Colorado when young. I went to school in the east to become a geologist (MS in sedimentology), came back out west on field trips and vacations. I never learned that there was a super-saline sea to create salt beds and that salt diapirism played any part in the creation of the anticlines out there. I did know about the Louann Salt and the diapirism that formed the salt domes along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I am retired now and love to find you on Youtube to continue to learn new facts about the geology of America. Thank you so much for making these videos. ❤❤

Your upbeat positive vibes, in combination with your white board drawings, helps prove that you are the Bob Ross of YT geologists. In this video, I was so expecting you to say that "faults don't make mistakes, they make happy accidents."

As an airline pilot based in Las Vegas I see this area every day and am never bored. It’s always fascinating. That paradox valley from altitude is absolutely stunning. That long cliff has always made me wonder how it formed. I thought that it was eroded from water coming off the Le Sal mountains. But. I was wrong. Thanks for this. 12:19

The drone really helps with the explanations of the problems let alone the solution. I remember at school you'd be lucky to get one photo of something. Well worth some of these shots. beautiful
