At the end of the battle, MM and Surfer both realized they have no reason to fight each other and are simply made to by Death Battle. MM decided to sacrifice himself rather than continue, and Surfer is left with the burden of winning.

Is no one going to talk about how honorable and depressing this Death Battle was?
There was no humor, no witty banter and no one-liners. Just two combatants with tragic pasts who know they have no choice but to fight to the death in order to survive and if one of them has to die, they'll do with honor. At least one of them will be reunited with their family in the afterlife.

If you were confused with the direction the fight took, it's kind of like a metacommentary of the concept of Death Battle as a whole. From things like the beginning where Martian Manhunter asks why he's been brought here, and how at the end they both know how by the rules of the show, one of them has to die. And neither know why that is, so that's why at the end Silver Surfer has that whole speech at the end and why he kneels down remorseful at the end. Hope that clears it up. Great reaction by the way.

Boomstick: "Wiz, what the hell are we doing?! Why are we forcing such beautiful souls to fight to the death?!"

I like seeing Amber lose just for the sake of her reactions to her loss

29:14 Knocking on Death's Door is a phrase for folks in a near fatal scenario. The joke is about what a doormat would say if Death had an actual door.

This is one of those episodes that you have to watch more than once, but once you do, it's one of the best

One time in the comics, Martian Manhunter, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent went to Japan, and J’onn didn’t want the people of Japan to figure him out as a Martian, so he shapeshifted into a businesswoman named Hino Rei

Well, if you haven't finished Gravity Falls, I'd suggest you do before the next Death Battle. It will definitely have spoilers, considering Bill isn't exactly a minor character.
