  What country do you prefer to travel too? I know the food subject has become a bit of hot topic. I feel like Japanese food from my experience is very detailed and carefully prepared I have never seen such precision put into food preparation as I saw in Japan. No where else in the world have I seen it.

  Japanese people are often very polite, but not always openly friendly. Chinese people may be less formal in their politeness, but they often come across as genuinely warm and friendly.

  I'm writing from the perspective of a young female traveller. I've been to both countries and walking with my female classmates at night, we encountered drunk and rowdy people in Tokyo at night and going back to our hotel, we were actually on edge and felt being followed after several Japanese men we passed by mistook us for street prostitutes. We absolutely did not get that in China. Sure, China is a "surveillance state", but mainly for potential criminal behaviour. In Japan, despite the politeness, there seems to be an acceptance of street criminals...it's just a bit unsettling. Also, we definitely witnessed homeless people at night in Japan...a lot of them and shockingly, disturbingly young girls...perhaps even pre-teen. This, we did not see in China. And the wilderness hiking in the mountains and riverside canyons in China is incomparable. I genuinely feel that for all the surface politeness, formality, and flashiness of Japan...that everything is just barely...delicately...held together by a thread...that there is great economic hardship that their people are suffering, but keep hidden because of the need to save face...and it just takes that one more economic mishap and the whole Japanese financial system will come crashing down. On my two hiking trips to China, the country as a whole felt...resilient...there's less emphasis on formal politeness, but you feel like China is actually very strong...and dependable...and safe. The Chinese do not seem to be living on the edge...you do not sense there is suffering hidden underneath...Chinese society seems to be genuinely happy...in Japan, they pretend to be. ❤Diane, Vancouver,  Canada.  MnMA25/26   08:33 am

  Been to both countries, my personal experience China&gt;japan <br><br>1.China has way more kinds of scenery—you can see deserts, mountains, and big modern cities all in one country.<br><br>2. The food is super different everywhere—so many tasty dishes you can’t try in Japan.<br><br>3. It’s much cheaper for food, hotels and transport.<br><br>4. China has a super long history with lots of old and amazing places to visit.<br><br>5. People here are really friendly and warm to tourists.<br><br>6. Traveling is super easy with fast trains and great public transport.

  Having visited Japan several times, I was disappointed by the limited variety of food. On the other hand, my trip to China left me deeply impressed by the incredible diversity of their cuisine.

  The dept of Chinese food is how many times more than Japanese food, considering Raman, Kyoza are all Chinese food rebranded by Japanese. Every Chinese city or even small town have their own town special or city special food.

  Because Japanese cuisine is generally suitable for one person to eat, but Chinese cuisine is large in quantity and suitable for 10 people to eat together at a table. One person can only eat simple dishes from roadside shops, so tourists may feel that Japanese cuisine surpasses Chinese cuisine.
